Spring Bank Holiday Weekend

2nd Flatwarming, The Church and Cheese Rolling - what a weekend!
I'd been sick all week (and still dragged myself to work every day) so decided a quiet Friday nite was in order so went to see Xmen 3. Predictable but something easy to watch when you dont want to have to think much.

On Sat, we had our 2nd flatwarming which seemed to be successful. Started in the afternoon and some people who hadn't made it the week before were able to join us in a few beers. I had my camera out this time, not always a good thing! I had a few more friends there from New Zealand, some who I hadn't seen yet, so was a good catch up with them.

After getting to bed about 3am, I was woken at 9am by flatmate Brad who isn't we all get up now and go to Church. Not just your ordinary church you would usually go to on a Sunday but the Church, a club that was set up years ago for those who wanted somewhere to go on a Sunday afternoon (www.thechurch.co.uk). So after complaining about it being too early to get up, we all left the house about 10am and got the line for the Church at midday. Not all the tube lines run on the weekends when they do maintenance, so it means a few buses here and there.
After queuing for an hour, we finally ventured inside to find this massive nite club happening in the middle of the day! It was a long weekend so I think that brought out a few more people to play. The best way to describe it is like the waterfront in Auckland, lots of very merry people all running around having a good time. So it was quite cheesy but also very fun. There was also a male stripper and a female stripper which got everyone excited, but after awhile they were too cheesy as well.
After being at the Church it was a mass expedition to the other side of town (conveniently where I live) to go to the Walkabout for more drinking beer, having shots and stupid cheesy photos, all of which can be found here:

After getting home at midnite I wasn't looking forward to getting up early in the morning to go to the Cheese Rolling (www.cheese-rolling.co.uk/) but it was worth it! Took the train for 1.5 hours from Paddington Station (hadn't been there before) and after walking up through all these properties, came across this massive hill where people were apparently going to be chasing cheese! And they did!
I remember seeing Marc Ellis win the mens race years ago so was quite cool to see in person. A couple of Kim's mates ended up going down as well. It probably helped that the ground was quite muddy (it even hailed for 2 mins while we were waiting for it to start!) as lots of people ended up just sliding down. I have a video of it but not sure if the link will work, but give it a go.
And after a feed of McD's it was back on the train home, I couldn't wait for bed! But was glad I had made it through the long weekend.
